Climate Change Governance in Nigeria

This policy research, reform and communication project seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s response to climate change. It works to promote policy and institutional frameworks, improve access to quality climate change information and strengthen Nigeria’s international engagement on climate change.

The project resulted in the building of the Nigeria Climate Action Network coalition – an influential promoter of progressive change and good governance on climate change. Through the network, ICEED has led the development and passage of the Bill to Establish the National Climate Change Commission. It provided the research and advocacy to prepare Nigeria for the Copenhagen conference, supported the House of Representatives in establishing a parliamentary committee on climate and led to the formation of a Climate Change Desk at the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
